Emu totem
The poem: There are emus silently stalking at the edge of the ridge, bobbing, swaying, beaking up life from the sweet soil washed there by rains of time their quiet thrum could be the echo of a heartbeat or the far-off rumble of the first storm of summer or is it the slow beat of strong feet on hollow ironstone as the flyers pause momently to graze...
The poem:
